페이스 캡쳐 어플을 활용한 3D 영상 『엄마는 내가 태어났을 때 어땠어』는 작가의 할머니, 엄마, 아이를 잇는 질문 릴레이로 구성된다. 페이스 캡쳐 기술을 활용하여 자신이 태어났을 때의 기억을 부모에게 묻고, 자신 역시도 아이를 낳았던 경험에 대해 대답하는데, 이것은 디지털 상의 텅 빈 몸을 통해 기록된다.

이 디지털 상의 가상의 얼굴은 나이와 성별이 정해지지 않은 중립적인 얼굴이지만, 발화자의 다른 표정과 목소리를 통해 서로 다른 신체가 말하고 있음을 느끼게 한다. 디지털의 피부 위로 마치 파도처럼 주름들이 물결치듯 쌓여가며, 세대간의 흐름을 서서히 드러낸다. 또한 인터뷰 내용을 통해 부모는 아이를 만드는 것 뿐 아니라, 아이를 낳음으로써 부모가 되며 함께 사는 패턴과 관계를 만들어 나가게 됨을 깨닫게 된다.

이 작업은 이렇듯 세대 간의 연결과 차이, 개인의 역사가 겹쳐 그려내며, 주변 세계와의 연결을 시작하는 좌표로서 자신을 인식하게 된다.

『How was it when mum gave birth to me』, a 3D video using a face capture app, consists of a relay of questions connecting the author's grandmother, mother, and child. Using face capture technology, she asks her parents about their memories of when she was born, and she answers about her own experience of giving birth, which is recorded through her digitally empty body.

This digital virtual face is a neutral face with undetermined age and gender, but the different facial expressions and voices of the speakers make it feel like different bodies are speaking. Wrinkles pile up like waves on the digital skin, gradually revealing the flow between generations. In addition, through the interview content, parents realize that not only do they create children, but by giving birth to children, they become parents and create patterns and relationships for living together.

In this way, this work overlays the connections and differences between generations and individual histories, and the artist recognizes himself as the starting point for connection with the world around him.
